Whats in a Box?
Have you ever prayed to the 8 pound, 6 ounce dont even know a word yet new born baby Jesus? And when/if you have to, do you picture baby Jesus in that smelly stable with horse dung and cow foot prints all over the place or is this imagination a more peaceful convocation of serenity with Jesus in his little manger and surrounded by the Gold given to him by wise men?
The baby Jesus didnt have a place to stay. And whats even more shocking? Neither did the grown up Jesus. The bible says. " Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head."
Its an interesting fact that even though Jesus was born in a manger, even though he didnt have a place of his own, He was always Sought out by powerful and influential men. Everybody wanted to see him, to hear what he said, to witness the raw intensity of his persona.
By definition a box is a variety of containers used for permanent or temporary storage. According to that definition I can argue that we as human beings are containers if you will. We permanently and temporarily store information, feelings, desires, needs, etc.
So we are, in essence. An array of boxes. An Array of anything is still an Array which means we are one BIGGGGG box.
To the question. Whats in a Box? Or whats in your Box?
Do you know that all versions of Jesus, the baby, the teenger, the bearded guy even though he never had a place to stay people who invited him into their homes were literally saying "hey Jesus, i dont have much but you can have the space in my box"
The God of Grace wants to live inside of you. That means he wants to be in your box. In the intimate fabric of your being. In the inter connected process of your thinking. He cares about the emotional dynamics of your reasoning. The flame of hope to the cold hearted logistics.
People say, well i dont think i can let you in little baby Jesus. You know your not as little as i remember you to be so im going to imagine you differently in a way that suits me to excuse myself.
Whats in your box? What do you have hidden in the dark corners of your heart. Is it decaying in there? Or are you papering over some wounds and hoping father time eradicates the scars.
Jesus always has important people looking for him.
Put him in your box.
Let whats important come looking for you.
